BJP to sack its foul-mouthed Ghatkopar MLA
Move after pressure mounts on BJP president Amit Shah.
Mumbai: With pressure mounting on the BJP, party president Amit Shah and CM Devendra Fadnavis have taken serious note of ML-A Ram Kadam’s controversial remarks and he will be removed from the state spokesperson’s post.
Mr Fadnavis was upset and reprimanded Kadam on Tuesday following which the MLA apologised late at night, according to a senior BJP leader.
All parties, including the BJP’s ally, the Shiv Sena, targeted the party and sought action against Kadam.
Very strong reactions condemning Kadam were registered on social media, and agitations are going on across the state. The issue was widely debated in print and electronic media at the national level.
After discussions with Mr Shah on the issue, Mr Fadnavis will remove Kadam from the spok-esperson post at least and ask him not to appear on public platform for some period. Considering the public anger over the issue, the BJP may take action against Kadam immediately, said sources.
“In the past, the BJP has taken action against MLA Prashant Paric-harak, deputy mayor of Ahmednagar Shripad Chhindam after their controversial remarks. So the party will not spare Mr Kadam though he is close to Mr Fadnavis as his remarks are very serious,” said a source.
