Mumbai: The NCP and Congress criticised the government for not reducing petrol prices by Rs 5 as per its announcement. Petrol dealers have reduced the price by Rs 4.5 only. NCP state president Jayant Patil said that after increasing fuel prices by RS 25, the government had redu-ced them by Rs 2.50. “The people are not begging before the government,” he said.

Congress state president Ashok Chavan slammed the government fo-r not giving ‘proper relief’ from the skyrocketing fuel prices.

Mr Patil also raised the fuel prices issue at a public rally at Kalyan-Dombivali. He alleged the government had given a little relief considering the Assembly polls in few states. He claimed that the people wouldn’t allow BJP leaders to move around across the state.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress organised a protest against rising fuel prices on October 6 demanding that petrol and diesel be brought under the Goods and Services Tax.
