Mumbai: The debut film of Sara Ali Khan, Kedarnath, directed by Abhishek Kapoor and starring Sushant Singh Rajput is in legal trouble. On Wednesday, a division bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice M.S. Karnik of the Bombay high court heard the petition seeking direction to the CBFC to reassess the film’s content and make appropriate cuts wherever necessary.

The petitioner, Ramesh Chandra Mishra, a lawyer by profession, has deman-ded that till the petition is decided, a stay be granted on the release of the film. The court has however posted the petition for further hearing on Thursday without granting any stay on the release of the film.

Mr Mishra has questioned how a love story can be made at such a holy site. Kedarnath is one of the Hindu religion’s Chaar Dhaam. The petitioner has sought that the CBFC reassess the story and the act of actors, directors and producers in the larger public interest. The petitioner has also claimed that the film’s story maliciously dilutes the real events of the 2013 floods, which claimed the lives of several Hindu pilgrims.

Meanwhile, the CBFC counsel has argued before the court that it should not grant a stay on the film as the board has seen all elements of the film and found nothing objectionable in it. The court after hearing both sides and considering the film’s release has kept the hearing on Thursday.
