March to be taken on January 21 against Bengaluru Molestation

Mumbai: A group called ‘I WILL GO OUT’, from Mumbai, has floated an online petition asking politicians like Abu Azmi and G Parameshwara to apologise for their remarks on Bengaluru molestation case.

The group has created a Facebook page in which they are trying to mobilise a march on January 21 throughout the country, including in the city, more likely at Bandra or Andheri.

Equal rights activist Harish Iyer, who is a part of the group said, “Unfortunately there is a view that a woman should not go out of the house or late at night against which the movement has come about.” He further added, “Politicians in the Bengaluru case have made outrageous comments about how such incidents are okay, so we are asking them to come out and apologise for being insensitive towards women.” The group also plans to send a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police outlining the reasons why women should retain their right to go out when they want to.

The Bengaluru molestation was caught on CCTV camera where a woman walking past 2 men, who were on a bike, stopped to molest the woman who was trying to get home on new year’s eve.
