NCP, Congress hold talks over Lok Sabha polls
Meanwhile, the United Republican Party has announced support for Congress and NCP in the Lok Sabha election.
Mumbai: A meeting was held between the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) over Lok Sabha elections at Leader of Opposition in the state Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil’s official residence in south Mumbai on Sunday to bring the like-minded parties in the democratic front.
Meanwhile, the United Republican Party has announced support for Congress and NCP in the Lok Sabha election.
A NCP leader said that Swabhimani Shetkari Saghtana, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh, Peoples Republican Party and Peasants and Workers Party of India (PWP) would be roped into the alliance.
NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik said, “Besides the Congress and NCP in the alliance, we will have to bring smaller and like-minded parties in our alliance.” He added that the NCP is hopeful to finalise constituencies for smaller parties by January 15.
