Mumbai: Three unidentified men have reportedly murdered a 35-year-old security guard, Veerapandiyab Elaiperumal working at the Goregaon Filmcity on Thursday afternoon in Aarey. The guard was attacked with a knife and died on the spot, while the accused fled on foot. They have been booked under section 302 for murder of the Indian Penal Code.
Sources said that the deceased, survived by wife and a son, was on his way to work from Aarey Colony from where the accused were following him. According to the eyewitnesses, the accused were casually dressed and wore caps and sunglasses.
Speaking to The Asian Age, Kirankumar Chavan, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 12 said, “We found the body on Thursday noon, and after enquiring with the locals, found out that he was a resident of the same area. We suspect that he was murdered following a tough competition regarding a security tender that both parties were eyeing. It would be too early to draw inferences, but the probe is on.”
A police source added that the security guards posted at the Aarey Dairy’s gate immediately informed the Aarey police station, who rushed to the spot and began the investigation. The police have launched a search operation to nab the accused.
