Mumbai: With a view to providing quality educational facilities to students from rural and remote areas, the Mumbai University’s Ratnagiri sub-centre will now undertake academic and administrative work, for which, students had to earlier visit the varsity’s Mumbai headquarters.

The Ratnagiri sub-centre will now handle operations related to examination forms, re-evaluation, mark sheets, degree certificates, corrections including eligibility and migration or transfer certificates, and work related to distance and open learning.

Additionally, registration and enrolment of post-graduate students, too, will be done at the sub-centre.

Henceforth, the university will organise workshops for all its affiliated colleges and bodies in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg district for NAAC accreditation. These facilities will help a total 96 affiliated colleges and their students in that they will no longer have to travel to Mumbai for work related to the varsity.

MU’s acting vice-chancellor, Dr Devanand Shinde, has taken this initiative during the advisory committee meeting held in the presence of other officials, including the principals of all affiliated colleges.
