BJP president kicks-off Sampark Abhiyan in Mumbai

The BJP national president also met Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter's residence as part of the campaign.

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national chief Amit Shah on Wednesday business tycoon Ratan Tata; and Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene as part of his “Sampark for Samarthan Abhiyan”. He presented them with a booklet on the accomplishments of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre in the past four years. Mr Shah is scheduled to meet 50 influential persons across the country as part of his drive. The BJP national president also met Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at the latter’s residence as part of the campaign.

Mr Shah is on a nationwide tour for his Sampark Abhiyan. He kicked-off the campaign in Delhi, meeting former army chief Dalbir Suhag; former cricketer Kapil Dev; Constitution expert Subhash Kashyap; and Yoga guru Baba Ramdev in the national capital. In Mumbai, Mr Shah began his campaign by meeting Dhak Dhak girl Mrs Nene, whose husband, Dr Sriram Nene, was also present at the meeting. Accompanying Mr Shah were chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve and cabinet minister Vinod Tawde.

Wednesday afternoon, Mr Shah met Mr Tata, chairman emeritus of the Tata group, at the latter’s residence and presented him with a booklet on the Union government’s performance in the past four years.

Although Mr Shah visited Mr Thackeray at Matoshree as part of the campaign, the Sena mouthpiece Saamana taunted him over it. The Saamana editorial on Wednesday said, “Nowadays, BJP has started a mega communication campaign. According to the party, Mr Modi is on a world tour and Mr Shah is on a nation tour.”
