Mumbai: The prosecution in the April 2012 Sheena Bora murder case on Friday examined two witnesses, including a man who allegedly sold bags to Indrani Mukerjea used to keep Sheena’s body and a second one who deposed that he sold Indrani a saree at Century Bazaar. According to the prosecution, Indrani bought two sarees to gift Sheena before killing her.

Defence lawyers grilled the witnesses in a bid to prove that they were deposing falsely. Ansari Masleuddin who used to sell bags told the court that in 2015, he sold two bags to Indrani for Rs 2,000 and kept them in the dickey of her car.

However, during cross-examination by Indrani's lawyers Sudeep Pasbola and Gunjan Mangla, Mr Masleuddin said that there were nearly 50 more bag sellers on the footpath  in Dadar. He also said that his business was unauthorised, so he did not issue bills to customers.

Mr Masleuddin said the police did not ask him about the colour or the make of the bag. He was also not asked about the car.

The second witness, Dharam Jain, who sold two sarees to Indrani at Century Bazaar, told the court that the police visited his shop with a lady and asked him if he had sold the sarees to her to which he said “yes” and also said  her name was Sheena Bora. Mr Jain identified Indrani, but during cross-examination he said that he could not state how many sarees he had sold.
