Centre to seek funds from corporates for Ganga project

The Union government has also made a provision of Rs 20,000 for the project and will provide more funds as per requirement.

Mumbai: Union River Development minister Nitin Gadkari has invited Mumbai-based corporates to contribute to River Ganga Rejuvenation project. He has invited more than 150 Industrialists, chief executive officers, managing directors on Thursday to discuss the issue, said sources.

Mr Gadkari is working on PM Narendra Modi’s ambitious Ganga Rejuvenation Project. The river stretches for 2,525 km flowing along 4,628 cities and towns in 52 districts.

The Union government has also made a provision of Rs 20,000 for the project and will provide more funds as per requirement, sources told. In a bid to revive the river, the government is thinking over taking contributions from corporate under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Hence, Mr Gadkari will discuss the project with corporates on Thursday.
