Man stabs CSW near CST for theft

Mumbai: A man stabbed a woman during the wee hours of Sunday near CST and fled. The woman was declared dead after she was taken to the hospital. After the accused was arrested, the MRA police learnt on Wednesday that the woman was a prostitute and had stolen Rs 9,000 from the man. The police nabbed the accused by tracing the taxi number in which he after the crime. 

The MRA Marg police received a phone call on Sunday around 9 pm, informing them that a 30-year-old woman had been stabbed after which she was rushed to the GT hospital. MRA Marg Senior PI, Sukhlal Varpe, said, “Our search team found a knife near the Kalpana Circle. We learnt that he left the taxi at Sagar junction in the Nagpada area. We aso learnt that the victim was a prostitute from Kamathipura.” He added, “We alerted all our sources and discovered the identity of the accused. On Tuesday night we went to his workplace and arrested him. He confessed to the crime.” 

The accused, has been identified as Akhtar Ansari (22) who came ot Mumbai from UP three years ago. He used to work as a tailor at one of the children clothes’s company at Nagpada and would visit Kamathipura often. The deceased, Amina Khan was a resident of West Bengal. According to the police,  Ansari met Amina on Sunday and agreed p pay her Rs 500. Amina had seen the Rs 9000 in his shirt pocket and  when Ansari was distracted, she fled with the money. Ansari called her and asked her to return the money. But when she refused, he brought a knife and stabbed her.
