Mumbai: After the University of Mumbai (MU) slipped down in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), ranking, the chancellor of MU and the governor of state C. Vidyasagar Rao on Saturday has sternly informed the varsity not to repeat  the  negligence in the upcoming evaluation of answer papers and declaration of results.

Mr Rao asked the varsity to declare results of all exams in a time bound manner.

He called for examination reforms, which will include end-to-end computerisation.

He further asked the varsity to prepare a detailed strategy for improving their ranking and accord top priority.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis who was also present in the meeting along with Mr Rao asked the universities to adopt 'mission mode' to improve the rankings. He said the universities in the state should become 'creators of knowledge' and not remain content at being 'disseminators of knowledge'.

He suggested the universities that have 700 to 800 colleges affiliated to them, to have IT based management system to manage the large number of colleges.

Adding to this, the universities have been asked to form a 'task force' for conducting academic audit.
