Jamnabai Narsee student secures 99.6 per cent in ICSE exam

Mumbai: Juhi Kajaria, a student of Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu, secured a near-perfect score in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) exam by scoring an astronomical 99.6 per cent.

Another student from the same school, Forum Sanjanwala, scored 99.40 per cent.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) board on Tuesday announced the Indian School Certificate (ISC)/Class 12 board examination results at cisce.org. In a first, two ISC students, Vibha Swaminathan of Mallya Aditi International School, Bengaluru and Dewang Kumar Agarwal of La Martiniere Boys, Kolkata, have managed to secure 100 per cent marks.

Ms Kajaria said, “I am happy. I didn’t think that I would be on top. I just gave it my best and left. I had studied thoroughly with a strong mind and I have to come out with flying colours.”

Asked about her future plans she stated, “I am yet to decide.”

Gerry Arathoon, the chief executive and secretary of CISCE, while announcing the results of ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12, said that girls have outperformed boys this year. While the girls achieved a pass percentage of 99.05 per cent in the Class 10 examinations, 98.12 per cent boys passed the exam. In Class 12, 97.84 per cent girls cleared the exam, while the pass percentage among the boys stood at 95.40 per cent.

The ISC exams began on February 4 and concluded on March 25 while the ICSE exams were held from February 22 to March 25 this year.

While 98.54 per cent students have cleared the Class 10 exams, 96.52 students cleared the Class 12 test.
