NC registered against Ram Kadam
NCP woman worker submits written complaint at Ghatkopar PS against MLA.
Mumbai: The Ghatkopar police station received a non-cognisable (NC) complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ram Kadam over his offensive comments against women. The NC complaint was registered after a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) woman office-bearer approached them with a written complaint, stating she was present at the Dahi Handi celebration where Kadam made the objectionable comment.
On August 3, Kadam gave a speech at Ghatkopar’s Sanghani Junction during Dahi Handi celebration. He told the masses that if a girl is not accepting their proposal and turning it down, the person can tell him (Kadam) about it. Kadam stated that he would assist in kidnapping the girl. The said video clip had gone viral resulting in a backlash from the public.
After receiving the complaint application, the Ghatkopar police sought legal opinion before they registered a NC against Kadam. The officials added that further action will follow as per procedure.
“The NC was registered based on the complaint we received. We will continue with the action as per the complaint,” said Akhileshkumar Singh, deputy commissioner of police, Zone VII.
The Mumbai police has registered NC as per section 504 (intentional insult with provocation to breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
In another development, a second complaint was received by the Solapur police, after which they also registered a separate NC against Kadam in Barshi. The Solapur police took the NC as per the provisions of intentional insult and causing fear among the public.
