Mumbai: The University of Mumbai’s (MU) on Saturday declared 4,550 revaluation results.

This year marks the first time in MU’s history that final year students — whose examinations were conducted by the varsity in the month of April and May — have submitted 56,354 revaluation applications. MU officials feel the reason behind this is the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which was introduced this year in order to assess the answer papers of more than 17 lakh students.

The results declared on Saturday are Arts (2,38), Commerce (14), Law (189), Science (111) and Technology (4,006). The Controller of Examinations and Evaluation, Dr Arjun Ghatule confirmed to The Asian Age that on Monday another 5,000 revaluation results would be out. “Every third day, we will be declaring 5,000 results, so by the next week or so every result will be out.” He also said that more than 8,000 answer papers’ evaluation is complete.

Revaluation is the process of assessing and evaluating of answer papers, freshly. If a student wants to apply for revaluation, he or she should fill a form and pay a certain amount. All these are done on a college level after which the college sends the application to the university. Generally, every year not more than 25,000 to 30,000 are received by the MU for revaluation. However this year, the revaluation application marked the highest of all.

Student organisations are happy with the news of revaluation results being declared this fast. Sachin Pawar, president of Students’ Law Council said, “For the first time, the MU has declared the revaluation results before the second term examination. This is not only a positive move but also a sign that putting pressure on the varsity can give good results from them.”

MU has asked students to check its new website http://www.mumresults.in/ for their revaluation results.
