NBW cancelled after ACP submits Jundal's ID cards
Sanap issued summons for ACP Chandra so that he could appear before the court with the original documents.
Mumbai: The special TADA court on Tuesday cancelled a non-bailable warrant (NBW) that had been issued against Manishi Chandra, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Special Cell, Delhi Police, after he appeared before the court and submitted the passport and two identity cards seized from the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case accused, Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal, at the time of his arrest.
In the meantime a court staff from Patiala House court in New Delhi, Pankaj Bharti informed special judge G.A. Sanap that two other remaining documents could not be produced before the court as they are with the Delhi high court. The judge then directed him to apply and obtain the documents from the Delhi HC and produce it before this court.
The documents sought by the court conducting trial in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks case include the original Pakistani passport in the name of Riyasat Ali Khushi Mohammad, having Jundal’s photograph on it; one national identity card of the Government of Pakistan issued in the name of Riyasat Ali and bearing Jundal’s photograph; One green-coloured card that has something written in Urdu and bearing Jundal’s photo; original panchanama of documents seized from Jundal and his arrest memo dated June 21, 2012.
These documents are necessary to prove Jundal’s identity. However, last month special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had informed judge Sanap that the additional sessions judge-2, Patiala House Court in New Delhi has refused the prosecution’s application to hand these documents to the investigation officer in this case.
Considering this fact, judge Sanap issued summons for ACP Chandra so that he could appear before the court with the original documents seized by him from Jundal at the time of the latter’s arrest.
