Pune man rapes 2-year-old daughter, held
The 28-year-old accused had also allegedly raped the infant two days earlier.
Mumbai: The Sangvi police arrested a man on Thursday for raping his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter at a time when his wife — the complainant — was in the washroom.
The accused had also allegedly raped the infant two days earlier and restrained his wife from approaching the police by threatening to kill her as well as the baby, according to the police. The accused is a 28-year-old transport driver and his family resides in a chawl.
Ajay Chandkhede, police inspector, Sangvi, said, “The mother of the child, who is homemaker, lodged the FIR against her husband on Thursday morning. According to the FIR, on November 30, the complainant came out of washroom and saw her husband in the nude doing something to the girl. She immediately stopped him and saw that girl’s private parts had turned red. She wanted to take her daughter to the doctor and the police. But her husband threatened her into silence.”
He added, “Two days ago, the accused again repeated the act. This time, however, his wife did not pay heed to his threats.”
The police has arrested the accused under the relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with unnatural sex offences.
