JJ Hospital's air ambulance to be reality
This facility will help provide patients with prompt and excellent service.
Mumbai: On the heels of receiving the approval of the state government to turn the state-run JJ Hospital into a super speciality hospital, permission for setting up an ‘air-ambulance’ facility has finally been granted after a seven-year wait.
The administration has stated that the construction of a helipad will be carried out on the top of the new hospital building. This facility will help provide patients with prompt and excellent service
The news comes on the heels of the state government’s approval of plans for a new 10-storey building with a helipad on the campus last week.
The entire project, wor-th '963 crore, is part of the state government’s plan to convert JJ Hospital into a super-specialty hospital.
Dr TP Lahane, director of the Directorate Me-dical Education and Research (DMER) said, “At present, we have a capacity of 1,352 patients. The new 10-storey building will add another 1,100 beds and will have 21 operation theatres and 60 beds for
daycare.”
