Water tanks to be installed in villages
The minister said that water is being supplied via tankers in 1,688 water-scarce villages.
Mumbai: The state is preparing measures such as fodder depots, water tanks and dry fodder to deal with the severe drought-like situation in eight districts in Marathwada.
Relief and rehabilitation minister Chandrakant Patil has directed officials to install plastic water tanks, which have a capacity of 10,000 litres each, in 1,000 drought-affected villages. The decision will help citizens, especially women, in the villages.
The minister said that water is being supplied via tankers in 1,688 water-scarce villages.
The people, especially women, rush for water as soon as water tankers reach villages, he said. In light of this, a thousand plastic water storage tanks will be inst-alled in villages where water is supplied via tankers with Corporate Social Responsibility funds and some firms have expressed interest.
