Two minor girls rescued from trafficking racket
Smelling a rat, the complainant alerted the police, which immediately sent a team.
Mumbai: The Versova police has rescued two minor girls from being illegally trafficked to the United States as maids, and arrested four persons who were to hand them over to an agent.
The racket came to light when the two girls were being groomed in a salon, to look exactly like the photographs pasted in fake passports and be shipped abroad with the help of forged documents. The police has arrested four persons and is on the lookout for a fifth accused, who convinced the minors’ parents into giving them up for human trafficking.
According to sources, one of the accused brought the two Ahmedabad-based girls aged 11 and 17 years to Mumbai only to send them to the US as maids. When the complainant saw the girls tidying up, she struck a conversation with them which revealed that there were two men guarding the door. Smelling a rat, the complainant alerted the police, which immediately sent a team. The team spoke to the girls and learned that they were being sent abroad for work and that the “guards” stationed outside were going to escort them. The police arrested the two men and questioned them
The accused have been identified as Tajuddin Khan (48), Aamir Khan (35), Rizwan Chotani (39) and Afzal Ibrahim. The police also found fake passports. However, the police is still on the lookout for the women who were to take the minors to the US, where they would be handed-over to the agent.
