Tutor gets 5 years' jail for molestation

Mumbai: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court on Friday sentenced a 25-year-old man to five years’ imprisonment for molesting two minor boys by undressing them in suburban Trombay.

According to public prosecutor Rakesh Tiwari, the judge B.V. Kale sentenced Yakub alias Mustak Shaikh to five years of imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him. The court has also directed that out of the fine amount a sum of Rs 5000 each should be paid to both the victims.

While convicting the accused the court relied upon the testimony of the victims as well as their medical report.

One of the two victims had told the court that both of them were afraid of speaking about the incident to anybody but he had informed about it to his mother after he experienced pain while answering nature’s call.

The prosecution case is that the Shaikh used to teach Quran to children. On May 16, 2017, he took the victims aged 9 years and 7 years behind the wall of cemetery in Trombay. The accused removed the cloth of both the victims and sexually assaulted them. The boys cried and ran away to their houses.
