Angry farmers to hold jail bharo agitation on May 14
A farmers' committee said that farmers in every district will support the protest and over two lakh are expected to participate.
Mumbai: Upset with the state government’s failure to keep promises, farmers across the state will hold a “jail bharo” protest on May 14, the birth anniversary of Sambhaji Maharaj.
A farmers’ committee said that farmers in every district will support the protest and over two lakh are expected to participate. The protest will be held in every tehsil and district.
Kishor Dhamale from the Satyashodhak Shetkari Sabha, said, “Despite giving assurances, the government did not implement them. We conducted various agitations so far, not paying electricity bills, keeping fasts, holding a protest march. But farmers have got no relief.”
“Hence, it has been decided to hold a jail bharo agitation across the state on May 14. The farmers are registering with us for the protest, and we expect that over two lakh farmers will participate in the protest,” he said.
