Molester' AI crew member likely to be arrested today

The police could rely upon evidence recovered from the flight and statements recorded by other crew members of the airline, said police sources.

MUMBAI: Three days after an Air India air hostess alleged that she was molested by a cabin crew member on a Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight on Friday, police sources said that after recording of statements and verifying of the allegations, arrests are likely happen on Wednesday. The police could rely upon evidence recovered from the flight and statements recorded by other crew members of the airline, said police sources.

On Monday, the police had already called in the accused Zoaib Khan (28) and other members of cabin crew who had witnessed the incident when Khan allegedly passed lewd comments at the complainant, when she was on board in Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight on Friday. After initial enquiry of the accused and his background check, the police found out that the allegations were indeed true, but as a protocol, it is yet to complete the probe to place Khan under arrest.

Lata Shirsat, senior police inspector of Sahar police station, said, “We have almost gathered evidence in the case that prove Khan’s guilt, and he is most likely to be arrested on Wednesday after completing the appropriate procedure and
protocol.”

Soon after the alleged incident on Friday, the complainant took the matter to the senior officials in the airlines and app-roached Sahar police, but did not register a complaint. However a day after the incident, on Saturday, the complaint formally registered a complaint ag-ainst Khan and a case was registered against him.
