Students with special needs at par with rest

MUMBAI: While the students in the city performed well, the students with special needs performed ‘exceptionally’ well in their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.

A total of 7,805 students appeared this year in the entire state out of which 6,780 successfully cleared the examination. The pass percentage of these candidates is 86.87 per cent.

Fifteen-year-old Harsh Gangurde from Vivekanad English School, Kurla managed to score 77.80 per cent. Gangurde suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder.

“In all the previous examinations, Harsh scored really less marks after which his principal called us and him and told him that he won’t be able to clear the board exam if this continues. That hurt him a lot and made him work extra than how he normally did,” said Vandana Gangurde, mother of Harsh.

Siddhesh Katkar and Harsh Bhalarao, both the students suffering from Learning Disabilitymanaged to score 81.20 per cent and 79.80 per cent.

Beyond the examination hall

• For the academic year 2017-18, for the first time the Hall Tickets were printed in Marathi and English. Earlier, there were only available in English.
• As part of the pilot project, the Maharashtra State Board, Pune division, issued the hall ticket online. In the next academic year, Mumbai division too may issue hall tickets online.
• Students who wish to see their answer papers or get verified or apply for revaluation can fill the form in their respective school from June 9.
