Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed rain Monday, which caused waterlogging at several places. Chronic areas like King’s Circle, Sion, Kurla, Andheri and Milan subway went under water. Although the rain decreased by afternoon, office-goers were hit hard in the morning. Till 6pm, the city received 40mm rainfall, eastern suburbs 63mm and western suburbs 84mm.

At 2am in Govandi’s Shivaji Nagar area, a ground-plus-one structure collapsed in which 11 people were injured. The injured were taken to Rajawadi Hospital, of which, four i.e. Zubeda Sayyed (70), Ayesha Sayyed (21), Noorja Sayyed (45) and Rukiya Sayyed (4) are still in hospital even as the rest were discharged after treatment.
In another incident at Andheri MIDC, a wall collapsed in which a 35-year-old man Yogesh Pandey was injured and admitted to the Trauma Care Hospital.
On Mama Parchand Road at Opera House, a wall of the first and ground floor of an old building collapsed. The building houses many offices and a hotel. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and the ward office ordered demolition of the building, the BMC officer informed.
The BMC disaster management unit informed that around 8am, there were very heavy showers which caused flooding at Wadala, Nehru Nagar Kurla, Postal Colony Chembur, Sakinaka junction, Bainganwadi Govandi, Vidyavihar, R City mall junction, Meghwadi, National College Bandra, Aakruti mall Andheri, Reliance Energy junction Borivali among others. The suburbs received more rain than the city area.
