Nashik: A man attempted to exorcise a demon from his nephew with the help of a notorious black magician in Pawarwadi area of Malegaon town of Nashik district. The police arrested the two accused late on Saturday and is likely to arrest the wives of both the accused.
The victim, Azhar (18), is still in shock and cannot communicate, and is admitted to a private hospital in Malegaon. A court remanded the two accused to police custody for three days on Sunday.
Senior inspector Chandrakant Gangurde of Pawarwadi police station said that the victim Azhar (18) on 28 September had gone to his paternal grandfather’s place at Jaykheda, and was not feeling well. His uncle Shaikh Sabuddin Kutbuddin took Azhar to black magician Baba Rafiq Ansari residing at Mhalde Shivar.
The fake baba anointed the victim with some magical oil. Then both Sabuddin and Rafiq tied up Azhar and assaulted him with sticks to exorcise the supposed demon. When this failed, the duo forced some smelly medicine down his throat. The victim fell unconscious from the beating and the poisonous medicine.
Sabuddin then called up his brother and victim’s father Shaikh Ainuddin (43) and told him that he had treated Azhar through a baba. When he saw Azhar’s condition, Shaikh Ainuddin and his family felt that the effects would wear down. However when Azhar showed extreme shock, the case was filed in Pawarwadi police station on Saturday night.
