Three kidnapped UP teens rescued from Panvel by police
The children were handed over to the Gorakhpur police on Wednesday along with two accused who had kidnapped them.
Mumbai: Two girls and a 12-year-old boy, who were kidnapped in Uttar Pardesh’s Gorakhpur three months ago, were rescued from Panvel by the Thane police on Tuesday night.
The children were handed over to the Gorakhpur police on Wednesday along with two accused who had kidnapped them.
The accused duo had brought the two girls to Panel under the pretext of marrying them. When the girls protested, the duo confined them in a room and forced them to work on a construction site. The Gorakhpur police had informed their Thane counterparts about the location of the accused, following which the Thane police laid a trap and arrested the accused.
According to a Thane crime branch officer, two days ago, the Gorakhpur police officials contacted the Thane police personnel informing them about five missing people, including the three children, and their suspected location in Panvel. Crime Unit-1 senior police inspector,
N. Thakre said, “We immediately took the photographs of the missing children and youngsters and started searching them. The Campierganj police station had phone numbers of two youths who were missing.”
Mr Thakrey also added, “On Monday, we have received information about the two youths who are identified as Pradyumna Nishad (21) and his friend Akhilesh Nishad (19). These two had left their home three years ago and came to Mumbai in search of a job. They used to work on construction sites. Both of them used to visit Gorakhpur twice in a year.”
Another police officer said, “After we detained the two accused and inquired about the three minors, they confessed that they had brought the three minors to Panvel and locked in their house. Nishad told the girls that he owns a home in Mumbai and the girls could stay there and only concentrate on the study there.” He said, “But later the duo forced the girl to work on construction site and when they resisted, the duo locked them in the room.” The duo didn’t inform the girl’s parents and also took one of the girls’ brother with them. The girls are 16 years old, and the 12-year-old boy is the brother of one of the teens, according to the police.
Mr Thakrey said, “We have rescued the children and handover them to Campierganj police station police officers.”
