Dadar bus shelter falls, injures 15-year-old girl
BEST chief public relations officer Hanumant Gophane said, The girl was taken to KEM Hospital and no one else was injured.
Mumbai: Fifteen-year-old Sakshi Pratap Kanaje was injured on Thursday when a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus shelter near Plaza theatre, near Tilak Bridge, Dadar east, fell on top of her at around 9.45am. BEST said that the BMC was repairing the tiles of the footpath. BEST chief public relations officer Hanumant Gophane said, “The girl was taken to KEM Hospital and no one else was injured.”
A BEST official said, “It seems that the tiles at the spot where the bus shelter is screwed onto the road got loose which is why we suspect the shelter came off and fell on commuters.”
Ms Kanaje was on her way to school when the mishap occurred. A source from KEM casualty ward said, “The girl was admitted with slight injuries and was sent back after being given first aid. She was not very severely hurt.”
This comes barely months after a CNG bus caught fire at Chakala in December last year; an incident that brought nearly 2,000 CNG buses under the scanner.
