Justin Bieber gets heavy security cover

Around 1,500 security personnel, including 500 policemen will be deployed.

Mumbai: With more than 50,000 fans expected to attend the Justin Bieber concert on Wednesday, the Navi Mumbai traffic police has already beefed up security and started screening each and every car that enters Navi Mumbai. Interestingly, private security guards from Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera’s agency will also provide security cover to the pop singer.

Around 1,500 security personnel, including 500 policemen will be deployed. There is a slew of other measures being undertaken by the police including the deployment of three drones for surveillance and setting up of a dedicated control room at the stadium as well as in the police headquarter to monitor feeds from CCTV units at the venue. The tickets range from Rs 5,000 to Rs  75,000. Interestingly, all the tickets for Rs 75,000 have been sold out. More than 1,500 guards including 525 police personnel will be deployed along with emergency response and disaster management at the stadium for the concert on Wednesday.

According to officials, two teams of 1000 security personnel are also coming in from London and Dubai.

The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) will conduct searches before the concert. Twenty officers and 200 constables will be deployed to manage traffic along with 100 volunteers. Officials said, “The traffic police with the help of city police has set up 20 checking points. They are checking all vehicles entering and leaving Navi Mumbai. Mostly the cars which are not from the city will be checked properly.”  Meanwhile, the organisers are allowed to hold the concert between 2pm to 10pm. Police personnel, both in uniform and plain clothes, will guard all entry and exit points of the stadium, The concert’s organisers will also deploy private security guards to manage crowds.
