MMRDA proposes to axe 297 trees for metro 2B

“According to the proposal, 75 per cent of trees are to be removed from 4.4km stretch of Metro 2B,” said Mr Bhathena.

Mumbai: Around 297 trees will be hacked for the Metro Line 2B running between D.N. Nagar to Mandale. Activist Zoru Bhathena, who has accessed the information stated that 388 trees are currently present on the stretch.

As per the proposal, 99 trees will be cut between JVPD circle near ESIC Nagar to Nanavati Hospital while 121 trees will be transplanted.

Between D.N. Nagar to ESIC nagar, 5 trees will be cut and 72 will be transplanted. Around 99 trees will be retained in total from both the sites.

“According to the proposal, 75 per cent of trees are to be removed from 4.4km stretch of Metro 2B,” said Mr Bhathena.

The trees will be hacked for construction of elevated viaduct and eleven elevated stations.
