No headway in Andheri IB school minor rape case

Mumbai: The MIDC police, which is probing the case of the 57-year-old director of an Andheri-based IB school who has been accused of raping a three-year-old girl in November last year, has gone through five rounds of questioning until now but there is no headway in the probe yet.

The police said they would conduct further questioning of the director but are not considering putting him and a co-accused, who is a female teacher, through polygraph or brain-mapping tests at this juncture. On the condition of anonymity, officers investigating this case said that the case has come to a standstill as a result of absence of substantial evidence. The police also said that despite the accused director having gone through five rounds of questioning, he has managed to maintain his calm and has stuck to his defence, pleading innocence. A source also claimed that the accused director, who had extended his stay in the European country for close to 45 days, has come up with a stern attitude and he is not bending either way.

When DCP Navinchandra Reddy was asked if there were going to be any lie detector tests or brain mapping tests, he refuted any such developments and said that it is ‘way too soon’ for any such action and if the accused director is found lying anywhere during the investigation, they might consider it then. But as of now, nothing of this sort is being panned.DCP Reddy also said, “We had taken the victim to school in the presence of a child psychologist and the police to identify the accused, but those details cannot be disclosed. The police will question the accused for another two to three times to come up to any conclusion.”
