Mumbai: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is concentrating on urban areas for the 2019 elections. Releasing lands, regularising illegal constructions, protecting illegal hutments till 2011, taking control of councils, streamlining central government schemes are some of the things that he has done.

After helping farmers with the loan waiver and many other things,  the CM is now focusing on urban areas.

He reviewed the progress of various schemes of central and state government regarding solid waste management, drinking water, cleaning rivers etc. He asked  the urban development department to follow up for smart city projects.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ofiice is periodically reviewing the central government’s ambitious schemes which will help the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019 elections. So CM Fadnavis is also very keen about progress of those projects.

He has taken various decisions about opening of industrial lands, extended housing benefit to illegal slum dwellers up to 2011 without bothering criticism. He knows it will help BJP in Mumbai in 2019 elections, told sources.

There will be a series of decisions in the next few months regarding dilapidated buildings, Mhada redevelopment, and housing for all schemes.

These decisions are related to the urban development and housing department. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken control of the council administration too in order to help BJP politically,  sources told.
