Three fires break out in suburbs, none hurt
The fire brigade control room had received another fire call at 12.03 am on Saturday.
Mumbai: The city witnessed three incidents of fire on Saturday. A blaze erupted in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area, and two other incidents of fire were witnessed in separate locations in Goregaon (east). According to fire brigade officials, a fire had erupted on the 12th floor of Rustomjee building in Bandra (east) on Saturday afternoon. However, the fire was minor and was doused within 10 minutes. The official said that as it was the second Saturday and most offices were not open. No casualty or major loss of property was reported.
A fire also erupted at the Italian Industrial Estate near the Oberoi Mall in suburban Goregaon early on Saturday morning. The blaze engulfed the ground floor of an abandoned cloth mill. A fire official said that no injury or casualty was reported in the blaze as the three-storey building had been vacated after a part of the premises was damaged due to another fire on Wednesday. A fire official said that the fire brigade received a call about a blaze at around 2.20 am. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The fire was declared level 2 and was completely doused by 5.15 am on Saturday. “The fire engulfed the large stock of clothes, dyeing machines, furniture, plastic products, electric wirings and installations,” said a fire official.
The fire brigade control room had received another fire call at 12.03 am on Saturday. A fire had erupted at Shreyas Industrial Estate but was brought under control within 30 minutes. No casualties or loss of property was reported.
On January 4, a major fire in an Andheri residential building claimed the lives of three. A week after, the ceremonial lounge of the domestic airport was completely gutted in a fire. Following which, the iconic Navrang Studios in Todi Mill Compound, Lower Parel, was completely charred in a major fire.
Even towards the end of last year, a major fire in the Kamala Mill compound claimed 14 lives and injured several others on December 29.
