Thane traffic police issue diversions keeping protesters' arrival in mind
Thane city will have to take LBS Road to reach Mumbai and will have to pass from Modella Check Naka to LBS Road in Mulund.
Mumbai: The Thane traffic police has issued traffic diversions ahead of the Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Maha-sabha’s march that will reach the city on Saturday night. The diversion is for heavy vehicles plying from Nashik to Mumbai between Saturday and Tuesday. Only one lane will be open for light vehicles on NH 3 to ply towards Mumbai.
The Thane police has made arrangements to segregate heavy vehicles from the route on which the farmers will ply to reach Mumbai. The traffic department issued a plan stating that vehicles from Nashik to Mumbai will take a left turn from Rajnoli Naka and will move from Durgadi Bridge to Katai Toll Naka to Kalyan Phata to Mhape Road to Vashi Bridge. Vehicular traffic to Mumbai from Bhiwandi/Narpoli will take Kasheli route to reach Balkum-Kapurbawdi Circle in Thane city. From there they will be diverted to Ghodbandar Road, Fountain Hotel square and Dahisar Check Naka.
The traffic police said that all light vehicles can also take this route with only one lane from Nashik to Mumbai being allowed on NH3 to them on Saturday. However, vehicles from Thane city will have to take LBS Road to reach Mumbai and will have to pass from Modella Check Naka to LBS Road in Mulund.
The Mumbai traffic police said that the farmers are scheduled to enter the financial capital around 11 am on Sunday via the Eastern Express Highway (EEH). The group will pass via Vikhroli, Ramabai Amb-edkar Nagar, Chheda Nagar and Suman Nagar; and will assemble in Somaiya ground in Sion by 9 pm.
The EEH will be shut for heavy vehicles from Mulund to Sion from 9 am to 10 pm on Sunday. The traffic police will continue to issue timely updates pertaining to the situation via Twitter and FM throughout the day.
