MNS chief is parrot of Baramati, says Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai: A day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of engineering the Pulwama attack, state chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said Mr Thackeray is a “parrot of Baramati” and that Mr Thackeray's script was coming from Baramati.

“When there is lack of parrots in Baramati, they search for a new parrot. Baramati is the bastion of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar,” he said. Mr Fadnavis also compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the sun, saying that if one attempts to spit at the sun, it would fall back.

Mr Fadnavis was addressing a gathering of the BJP's women workers in the city on Sunday, in the presence of senior leader and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar.

Without naming NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Mr Fadnavis said, “Whenever Baramati feels there is a lack of parrot, it looks out for a new parrot. All that he can't express, he wants it to be expressed by someone else.”

Apparently referring to Mr Thackeray, Mr Fadnavis said that even people from Gulli have started speaking up. He further mentioned that Mr Thackeray was an artist and it was his job to play the role as per the script. “Raj has taken a supari (contract) for speaking against Mr Modi. As per the contract, he might make his speeches in the next few days.”

He also said that Mr Thackeray couldn't make a corporator, MLA (member of the Legislative Assembly) and MP (Member of Parliament). Nobody takes cognisance of his speeches. Therefore, the BJP workers need not  be distracted by listening to his various
allegations.
