Chheda raises objection over metro 4 corridors

Mumbai: As the work for Metro 4 (Wadala to Kasarwa-davali) began last week, former senior Congress councillor Pravin Chheda has raised an objection over alignment of the corridor. Mr Chheda has written to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to change the alignment of Metro 4, as the route passes through Barrister Nath Pai Road from Amar Mahal Junction. According to Mr Chheda, there was no clarity on the alignment so far which is why no objections were raised.
“We thought that the alignment would go through Eastern Express Highway (EEH) to reach Thane, which was decided during the (United Progressive Alliance) regime. We don’t want the metro to pass through 90ft road of Ghatkopar, firstly it will become more narrow and secondly it is one of the most clean and hawker-free road of the area,” said Mr Chheda. He further added, “Letters from the societies objecting the metro work is already given to MMRDA and Mr Fadnavis. We will protest, if the work continues further.”
The letter given to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis stated, “More than two lakh people will be affected due to the change in alignment. As per Standard specification, road width below metro line should be more than 45 meters, but in this case the road width is only 28 meters and is insufficient.”
