Sharad Pawar writes to CM, demands relief for dam breach victims

Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has written a letter to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding speedy rehabilitation of those affected by the Tiware dam breach, on the lines of rehabilitation of the Malin mishap victims.

In his letter, Mr Pawar said that the state government, in case of the Malin mishap, had started immediate rehabilitation and provided funds to the affected families from the chief minister’s relief fund, the prime minister’s relief fund, and the National Disaster Response fund.

Following his visit to Tiware village on July 8, Mr Pawar wrote the letter to the chief minister, demanding relief for the affected people through the Prime Minister’s, chief minister’s and National Disaster Management funds.

“The then government had undertaken relief work immediately after the Malin mishap. Relief was provided to the affected families through the funds of the chief minister, Prime Minister and disaster management and in other ways,” NCP president said in his
letter.

“The existing government schemes were implemented on priority then. The demands of the Tiware villagers and affected people should be considered on the same lines,” the former Union minister demanded.

He asked Mr Fadnavis to properly rehabilitate the affected families and speedily re-establish basic public amenities there.

Meanwhile, Vinayak Raut, Shiv Sena member of Parliament from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking the latter to provide aid to Tiware victims from the PM’s relief funds.
