Structural audit report is likely to be out today
As a part of the probe, the committee had recorded statements of the residents and concerned ward officials.
Mumbai: The structural audit of Ghatkopar’s Siddhi Saidarshan building is likely to come out on Friday, confirmed additional municipal commissioner Vijay Singhal. Mr Singhal heads the three-member committee that was formed by the civic body to probe the collapse soon after the incident.
Neither the BMC nor the society had conducted a proper structural audit of the society. “The structural audit is expected to be submitted by the consultant on Friday, so we can come to certain conclusion after studying the report,” said Mr Singhal. The committee had hired an independent structural consultant only for probing the collapse case. The consultant was supposed to test the material and debris stored at Maniklal Maidan after the collapse. Following CM’s order, the committee is expected to complete the probe and submit the final report within 15 days.
As a part of the probe, the committee had recorded statements of the residents and concerned ward officials.
The inquiry was put in force after the residents repeatedly blamed Sunil Shitap, the main accused in the tragedy, who had demolished the load bearing pillars of the structure.
