2 more held in Navi Mumbai robbery case
Police has recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 45 lakh. During the robbery, the six accused had robber 23 kg gold and Rs 9 lakh cash.
Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai police has arrested two more accused in a case related to robbery case at a finance company in Navi Mumbai. The duo was charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) as they had allegedly entered the premises using force and robbed off Rs 6 crore in 2016.
Acting on a tip-off, two arrests were made recently, wherein Punnuswami Nadar (41) and Muttukumar Nadar (36) were nabbed for their alleged involvement in the robbery. Last year on August 5, the accused had carried out a robbery of Rs 6 crore at Seawoods in Navi Mumbai. Of the six alleged robbers, the mastermind of the robbery, Arputraj Nadar (38) was arrested after two weeks.
Till now, the police has recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 45 lakh. During the robbery, the six accused had robber 23 kg gold and Rs 9 lakh cash. They also allegedly broke computers and took the CCTV recording machines in a bid to destroy the evidence that could help them in tracing them.
Prashant Burde, joint commissioner, Navi Mumbai police, said, “Since all the accused were not arrested, the probe was on with full swing and the arrests were made one after the other.”
Till now, three arrests have been made.”
The police has booked the accused under section 395, 397 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and have been slapped with a MCOCA.
