Mumbai: A day after the Maharashtra State Commission for Women sought a status report from the Oshiwara police on the complaint of sexual harassment raised by actress Tanushree Dutta, the investigators recorded her statement on Wednesday night.

Ms Dutta landed at the police station at around 7.30 pm with her face covered to avoid the media. The process of recording her statement went on until beyond 10 pm.

Ms Dutta’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute, was present while her statement was being recorded.

The statement was recorded in Marathi and English for better clarity as Ms Dutta had alleged that she had not understood the statement that was recorded by the Goregaon police station in 2008.

She had cited loopholes in the complaint she had made and the facts that were taken on record by the police then.

“The statement has been recorded. The probe is underway,” said a police officer. The investigators are likely to summon actor Nana Patekar soon to record his statement following Ms Dutta’s statement being recorded afresh.

Ms Dutta had alleged that Mr Patekar had sexually harassed her during the shooting of a movie in 2008 at a studio in Goregaon. In the written application that she submitted to the Oshiwara police a week ago, she also named choreographer Ganesh Acharya and producer Samee Siddiqui.

In her written complaint, Ms Dutta had stated that the dance steps of a song sequence were changed abruptly so that Mr Patekar could get to touch her inappropriately.

A day after Ms Dutta’s application, Siddiqui also submitted an application stating that the allegations were already looked into by the Goregaon police station in 2008 after which they filed an FIR. However, Ms Dutta’s application stated that the police did not take the sexual harassment angle on record that time.

The state women’s commission has also issued summons to Mr Patekar, Mr Acharya and Mr Siddiqui and has sought a report on the probe from the Oshiwara police station.
