Civic body to issue health advisory for Mumbaikars
The public is also advised to avoid early morning smog.
Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to issue a health advisory for those suffering from breathing ailments. According to sources, the advisory, whose draft is ready will advise the public to stay indoors, avoid early morning walks as there is a more pollen in the air and it could lead to upper respiratory illnesses and keeping doors and windows shut if the house is near a construction site etc.
The advisory will be circulated to health officer in all the 24 wards so that they can give instructions to their patients, said a senior medical health officer.
The advisory further advises the public to travel by train to avoid pollution from vehicles, to consult a doctor if a respiratory infection persists for more than three days and avoiding self-medication. The other measures advised are adhering to the antibiotics regimen prescribed by the doctors and non-stoppage of medication midway. One should drink more water especially boiled water; it flushes out bacteria and use woollens when there is a nip in the air. The public is also advised to avoid early morning smog.
