Police to help bankers plug security gaps
Police officials have created a video of the incident with a proper sequence to help bankers understand the flaws in the banks' security.
Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai police will organise a workshop for banks to impart knowledge on how to plug loopholes that allowed a 15-member team of robbers to successfully carry out a Rs 3 crore heist at Juinagar branch of the Bank of Baroda in November.
On November 13, a group of thieves robbed several locker rooms of Bank of Baroda branch in Juinagar.
They had dug a 25-feet tunnel from an adjacent office they had hired in May to enter the locker room in the bank. The gang decamped with cash and jewellery from 30 lockers.
A police officer said, “There is need to hold a session with all bank officials of Navi Mumbai, to make them understand how the incident happened and what kind of precautions they need to take to stop such activities. The session will be held on December 13. We have called main officials from every bank for the session.”

The police official said, “The banks must always seek information about their neighbours such as for how many years they are working or staying near the banks.”
