Piyush Goyal to review rail projects in city
Prior to November, the minister's September 29th visit coincided with the unfortunate stampede at Elphinstone Road which claimed 24 lives.
Mumbai: Union minister Piyush Goyal and chairman of the Railway Board (CRB) Ashwani Lohani will be in Mumbai on Friday to separately carry out important revisions of the city's railway projects.
Officials said that Mr Goyal is expected to review projects including construction of FOBs at Elphinstone Road and Currey Road by the Indian Army. "The meeting at Sahyadri will be more between the minister and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis as many projects are being considered in the run-up to the budget," a source revealed.
Mr Goyal during his last visit in November 2017 saw a bad patch of health and had to be admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for removal of a kidney stone.
Prior to November, the minister's September 29th visit coincided with the unfortunate stampede at Elphinstone Road which claimed 24 lives. Mr Lohani on the other hand is expected to visit Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on Friday and is likely to address railway officers from all departments. According to officials, his address is highly anticipated as he has been lambasting old customs like bouquets and asking officials instead to prove their mettle through work.
Mr Lohani was in the news quite recently when he diverted house peons for railway officials to positions where they would do more for the railway.
