Sena joins Opposition in celebrating election results
MNS chief Raj Thackeray has said that the results are a tight slap to the autocratic rule of the BJP.
Mumbai: Non-BJP parties in Maharashtra are elated with the election results in five states. Not only opposition parties like the Congress, NCP and MNS but even BJP ally, Shiv Sena, is jubilant after the defeat of the ruling party at the Centre.
While Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has lauded the election results, saying that people have shown courage by rejecting what they did not want, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has said that the results are a tight slap to the autocratic rule of the BJP.
Praising the “courage” of the voters in the five states, Uddhav said that they had shown the way forward to the country. “I congratulate the courage of the voters who did not think about the useless question of who would be the choice,” he said.
“Voters did not think about EVM manipulations, distribution of money, hooliganism or who will be the alternative to all of this, but rejected those they did not want. True courage is not worrying about the future. The courage of the voters has shown the country the way forward,” Uddhav said.
Meanwhile, Raj said that the election results in the five states were “a tight slap to the autocratic BJP” and that the country today needed a “Ram Rajya” and not a Ram temple. The BJP was calling Congress president Rahul Gandhi a “pappu” but the latter had now become a “param pujya” or highly revered, Raj said.
“Today, the country does not need a Ram temple but Ram Rajya. The government does not have anything to show to the people as it has not done anything in the last four and a half years. Thus, matters of faith are being put forward,” the MNS chief said.
NCP leader Dhananajy Munde said that the change in power was now inevitable in Maharashtra, too. This was a defeat for the BJP, which had taken the common people for granted, he said.
Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil of the Congress said that the voters had rejected the BJP decisively and that the latter should accept that. The reflection of this defeat will be seen in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections too, he said.
