Mumbai: Four children ran away from their Dadar-based boarding school as they were too bored to give a test the next day. Railway Police Force (RPF) spotted them wandering aimlessly at Borivali station on Wednesday afternoon and subsequently took them back safely to their hostel.

At about 1pm on Wednesday, four boys dressed in their school uniforms — Navin Anjali Fernandez (8), Savio Sujat Parmar (9), Vicky Thomas Vensimetri (9) and Gineus Peter Kinny (09) — were sighted at Borivali station platform number 4 by RPF personnel Satyatendra Kumar and Akhilesh Singh, who were patrolling the station at the time.

The children were then brought to the RPF post where upon probing the boys revealed that they had been too bored to give a test the next day and had instead decided to roam around the city.

Senior inspector K.K. Meena then found out from the boys the name of the school where they were studying. “The boys did not know the number of their school because they had dumped their ID cards back in the hostel, so I asked them their school’s name. I searched for Our Lady’s Home on the Internet and the one at Dadar popped up on the screen. We called the landline and informed them the names of the four boys; the woman on the line confirmed that they were their students,” he said.

Soon, the school’s superintendent, Paul G. Pereira came to collect the children. “We cross checked the superintendent’s credentials and handed over the children to him. We let the boys go only after making sure that they ran away for the reasons they mentioned and nothing else.” When The Asian Age contacted Our Lady’s Home, Mr Pereira was unavailable for comment.
