600 students take part in energy conservation rally

Nearly 1,500 people from Kurla were sensitised about energy conservation and saving the ecosystem through saying no to plastic.

Under pressure to deal with the load-shedding, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) purchased 1,200 mw of power.

Mumbai: Six-hundred children from different schools participated in a rally to spread awareness about energy conservation. Nearly 1,500 people from Kurla were sensitised about energy conservation and saving the ecosystem through saying no to plastic.

This rally was arranged by Club Energy, a resource energy conservation programme by Tata Power. The rallies will be organised for two days. On the first day, the rally started from CES Michel School, Kurla, along with 15 other schools.

“Being a environmentally responsible organisation, we have been quite passionate about building a sustainable future by educating the growing young minds of tomorrow to be the advocates of energy and resource conservation,” said Shalini Singh, chief corporate communications and sustainability officer from Tata Power.

Jean Gomes, principal, CES Michel School, said, “Our students have learned how to save units, not only in school but also outside. They have learned many things about energy saving through this rally.”

Sayyeda Aiman, a student from CES Michel School, said, “My experience has been enriching in this area. I have realised that people do not proactively take steps towards conserving the environment because of lack of awareness.”

The Pawar Public School has scheduled one more rally on Wednesday.
