Mumbai: The Thane police recorded the statement of Ayesha Shroff, wife of actor Jackie Shroff, in connection with the call data record (CDR) scam case on Thursday. The police said that she had procured the CDR of actor Sahil Khan from one of the arrested accused and that she did not know it was illegal act.

The investigators said that Ayesha claimed lawyer Rizwan Siddique had sourced the CDR for her. The police is verifying the details she has shared.

“We have got crucial details from her statement and further probe is underway based on the facts. Nothing more can be revealed at the moment,” said Abhishek Trimukhe, deputy commissioner of police, Thane crime branch.

The police has also arrested a private detective, Jignesh Chedda, from Kandivali for procuring CDR fraudulently. The identity of the persons whose CDR was procured is being gathered, officials said.

Officials said the accused runs a private detective agency ‘Maratha’ and that he had procured the CDR from one Mukesh Pandian, who operates ‘Globe Detective Agency’ in Vashi.

The officials have arrested Siddique, private detectives Rajani Pandit and Mukesh Pandian along with Ajinkya Nagargoje, Prashant Patekar, Jugar Makwana, Samresh Jha alias Pratik Mohapal, Prashant Sonawane, Santosh Pandhare, Jaypreet Singh Marwa and Nitin Khade in the case.

The officials had to release Siddique following a Bombay high court order stating that his arrest was illegal detention. The police said that the statements of more persons would be recorded, in the coming days.
