Chavan criticises Modi's fast, says govt has forgotten ITS responsibilities
Over 13,000 farmers have committed suicide during the BJP government.
MUMBAI: Congress state president Ashok Chavan on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his fast. Mr Chavan said that the Modi government has forgotten their responsibility of running the Parliament and blaming opposition for that.
“When Arun Jaitley was in opposition, he had said that it was a responsibility of the government to run the Parliament. Today, Mr Modi has forgotten it conveniently. He has been opposed throughout the country. The government has failed at all the levels,” Mr Chavan told reporters.
Pointing at various protests by farmers, dalits, women across the country, Mr Chavan said that the people from all the sections are upset.
“All the sections are unhappy with the government and have been protesting. In such a situation, the drama of fast will not work.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLA in Pune were caught having food on the fasting day. Even food arrangements were mentioned in the PM’s official schedule today. So the fast is clearly fake,” the Congress state president said.
Terming suicide of Yavatmal farmer Shakar Chayre who held the PM responsible as “shameful” Mr Chavan said that Mr Modi should be booked. “Chayre killed himself blaming Modi which is very shameful. The farmer’s family members have demanded that Modi should be booked and we support the demand. Over 13,000 farmers have committed suicide during the BJP government.” Mr Chavan added.
