Two kill elderly woman, key accused on run
The incident came to light after foul odour started emanating from the shed on Sunday night.
Mumbai: The decomposed body of a 55-year-old woman was found inside a tin shed adjoining platform no. 10 at Borivali railway station on Sunday. The room belonged to a contractor, whose caretaker, Salim ‘Langda’ Shaikh, allegedly murdered the woman as she had been opposing his relationship with her daughter, said GRP sources. While the GRP has arrested a co-accused, who allegedly pinned the victim on the floor during the attack, Shaikh is on the run.
The incident came to light after foul odour started emanating from the shed on Sunday night. After the station master was informed, he along with the Government Railway Police (GRP) broke open the lock of the shed and found the woman —Sitabai — lying dead, stuffed in the gunny bag. The shed was made by the contractor for ongoing work of building an elevator on the platform. “When the CCTV footage of the station was scanned, the woman was found along with two other persons. One of the persons in the footage, Raju Yadav alias Suraj, 22, was later arrested after he was found loitering outside the station premises on Monday,” said Purshottam Karad, deputy commissioner of police, GRP (Western Railway).
Yadav spilled the beans and revealed the conspiracy. The main accused has been identified as Shaikh, who had murdered Sitabai over a love affair with her daughter Pinky.
