Mumbai University yet to declare results for twelve part-time courses

Mumbai: The results of 12 part-time courses are yet to be declared by the University of Mumbai (MU) even though the examinations were held four months ago. The results of the PG diploma in Human Rights, International Studies and Right to Information are pending. All three fall under the varsity’s Department of Civics and Politics.

Amrin Moger, one of the students of the aforesaid course said, “Courses like ours don’t have more than 100 to 150 students which is why the MU has so easily ignored our results. It is an injustice to us.”  Sachin Bansode of Chatra Bharti, a students’ group, met Dr. Arjun Ghatule, the controller of examinations and evaluations, who assured that these examination results would be out by next week.

However, a source close to MU said that the assessment of these part-time courses is complete but the final process is remaining. “We are currently busy with the assessment of the revaluation papers, as it is more important because the winter examination is about to begin. But these results too will be declared soon,” said the source.

This year, all the final year examinations were assessed on the On-Screen Marking (OSM) online system. Due to constant cropping up of issues, the results were delayed. The ‘missing papers’ were awarded ‘average’ marks as compensation. However, by delaying the results, MU has violated the Maharashtra Public University Act, which states that the varsity should declare all the results within 45 days from the day of exams.
